Cape Maclear

Francis Pasanje

Beauty of Cape Maclear,

Amidst the warm heart of Malawi,

With sandy beaches,

Gleaming like the finest gems,

Far up yon hill doth stand stairs,

Down to Otter’s point,

Where greenest waters flow,

Filled with mbuna fish,

Bright like the jewels of a crown.

A land of breeze, a land of peace,

A land of merrymaking,

For all the folk that do arrive,

Upon the fertile shores.

Upon the shores, where villages stand,

Dwelling ‘neath the peak,

Where happy faces do arise,

With laughter like the music of the spheres.

There findest thou tranquility,

The simple bliss of Malawi,

Where time doth stand still,

As pleasures flood the senses,

Forgotten are the cares of life.

The fair Cape Maclear,

Shining jewel of Malawi,

Doth bringeth a calm,

Unfathomable, unbreakable.
